Q4 2025 Oct-Dec

  • Conducted user research with 10 public officers across 7 agencies to understand pain points with creating and sharing maps
  • Conducted citizen research with 19 citizens (ages 18-65) to map the full user journey for finding government location information
  • Improved location search with multi-keyword support, full text search, and expanded postal code search radius from 2km to 5km
  • Improved CSV upload error handling to show specific row and column errors instead of generic messages
  • Added clearer instructions and tips during CSV upload, including guidance on how to use filters
  • Added agency logos to maps to enhance legitimacy and trust
  • Integrated CSAT survey component for collecting feedback
  • Integrated Slack notifications on user upload errors to enable the Maps team to provide proactive support
  • Set up analytics funnel on PostHog
  • Set up synthetic URL monitoring
  • Maps.gov transitioned from pilot to production status

  • Partnered with NLB to launch their kidsREAD map with over 200 clubs island-wide, promoting the love of reading among young Singaporeans
  • 3 new maps created by MOM independently and launched on their website
  • Added a nearby search feature for citizens to find locations near a postal code
  • Conducted initial research on existing mapping tools that public officers can use and why they are not using them
  • Updated our guides to be more comprehensive with specific sections about each feature
  • Rolled out a maps newsletter to public officers to highlight NEA’s use case
  • Added surveys for maps

Q2 2025 Mar-Jun

  • Partnered with NEA to launch our first nationwide use-case (a map of merchants that accept NEA Climate Vouchers)
  • Enhanced the mobile drawer experience and removed the lag jank when scrolling
  • Changed the logic for map filters so they accurately represent the expected behaviour from users
  • Introduced spiderfication for map markers at the same location
  • Released a new feature for adding optional notes for individual map markers
  • Added Datadog RUM and APM monitoring so the team gets immidiate alerts if there are errors users face.
  • Added a CI/CD pipeline for to allow for faster deployment times and hot-fixes
  • Added a queue system to handle OneMap rate limit issues during new map creations

Q1 2025 Jan-Mar

  • Developed Maps to solve the problems that public officers faced when sharing location information with citizens
  • Implemented base features such as creating a map, uploading a list of locations, and sharing that map via a public URL
  • Partnered with MUIS to launch their Mosque Finder map as our first use case
  • Added user guides and a support channel for Maps
  • Added Google Analytics to track number of map views
  • Migrated entire hackathon infra to be in a production ready state, to be able to support larger nationwide use-cases
  • Launched subsequent maps with MUIS for prayer timings on public holidays when there is a surge in crowd levels
  • Fixed OneMap token refresh errors
  • Fixed scrolling issues for map list when on mobile devices
