What we worked on:
We trialed an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) with 2 hiring teams.
We built and validated an online salary calculator which is intended to reduce the time it takes to get approval for a salary offer.
We built a custom metrics dashboard for us to be able to track behaviors and share leading indicators with hiring teams using the ATS.
We released a feature to mitigate against down time from downstream systems that was preventing job seekers from being able to review job descriptions and submit applications.
We released a feature to enable users to log in and save jobs to support users on mobile devices who prefer to browse and search on mobile but submit applications from desktop.
What we’re planning next:
We’ll build an test a prototype to help a PSD hiring team shortlist applicants more easily to reduce time to first interview
We’ll roll out and test our tool to help PSD hiring teams more quickly generate and seek approval for salary offers
On the Jobs portal, we’ll improve search performance and increase application click-through rates through personalised job alerts for users who sign up as well as search enhancements to index beyond just job titles and instead present more relevant results.
We’re conducting exploratory research to test our assumptions about specific pain points for job seekers, applicants, candidates, recruiters, and hiring managers.

Build and test an app for computing salary offers to improve speed and reliability at the offer stage
Build and test an applicant shortlisting tool and integrate with the ATS workflow to improve efficiency at the application review stage
Release login, saved jobs, job recommendation and alerts, semantic search features for Careers@Gov Jobs portal
