Why we built this

HAS began as the National Appointment System in 2020 to support Singapore’s Covid-19 vaccination programme at speed and scale. After the pandemic, it expanded into a general health booking platform covering more than 20 services. But breadth did not necessarily translate into better health outcomes.

In 2024, the team refocused HAS on a clearer goal: helping more people complete the preventive care they need.

Healthier SG gives every eligible resident a long-term relationship with a chosen GP. But enrolment is only the beginning. Better health depends on patients returning for annual check-ins, screenings, and vaccinations, and continuing these habits over time. Participation in these activities remains below national targets.

HAS supports this shift from enrolment to action. It helps patients understand and book the care they are due, while giving GPs practical ways to reach their enrolled patients and encourage follow-through.

What we envision

HAS is a key piece of infrastructure connecting Singapore’s preventive care priorities with everyday primary care.

For patients, this means a simple and consistent way to know what care they need, what it will cost, and how to book it. For GPs, it means better tools and information to identify patients who are due for care, contact them, and help them complete it.

Over time, HAS will move beyond a standalone booking platform and integrate directly with clinic management systems. This will make preventive care easier to deliver as part of a clinic’s existing workflow and strengthen the long-term relationship between patients and their chosen GP.

What we've built

HAS gives patients one trusted place to check their eligibility, understand costs, and book preventive care appointments. It also helps GPs take a more active role in keeping their enrolled patients healthy.

Nationwide vaccination and screening bookings

Patients can book nationally recommended vaccinations and screenings at CHAS GP clinics and participating healthcare providers. They can see available subsidies and expected out-of-pocket costs before booking. Services include flu and other nationally recommended vaccinations, Healthier SG consultations and screenings, mammograms, and more.

Healthier SG appointments

HAS helps patients understand which check-ins and screenings they are due for and guides them to book with their enrolled GP. We are improving these booking journeys so that eligibility, available services, and subsidies are presented consistently and accurately across preventive care programmes.

Proactive GP-led care

HAS gives GPs self-service tools to book appointments for their Healthier SG patients and contact them using approved SMS messages. This allows clinics to reach patients who are due for care through an existing and trusted relationship. Early results show that GP-led outreach can drive stronger follow-through than broad-based national campaigns.
